If anybody didn’t recognize the comic strip characters in panel 2, they are Charlie Brown from Peanuts, Garfield from, well, Garfield, Opus from Bloom County/Outland/Opus, Dilbert from, you guessed it, Dilbert and Stick Figure Guy from xkcd. All featuring the way they looked at the beginning, and the way they look now. I could have used a lot of other big-time webcomics to show character evolution, like Penny Arcade, Goats, Questionable Content, Least I Could Do (most of the change there was when the creator hired the awesome Lar DeSouza to do the drawing), Schlock Mercenary (everything except the title character, who’s an amorphous blob… what can you do?)
And here’s Brad Guigar’s comic, Evil Inc. Not only did he do an awesome job turning me into a pudgy superhero, but he even outdoes me in my favorite area of humor… puns. Like here, and here, and here, and here, and here.
Anyway, here it is, the story of a boy and his blog, wandering the world wide web, having virtual adventures (the best kind; far less chance of injury and infection) and meeting up with some web-famous folks, real and fictional (haven’t decided yet if they’ll be drawn or just cut and pasted, probably some of both depending on my blood sugar level). But I promise the drawing will get better, or your money back.
For the start, it’s just once a week, but that should change real soon, depending on the 137 other web projects I have in process, all of which will be promoted RIGHT HERE. There is method to my madness. Thanks for stopping by, comments are open, but be kind, even Charlie Brown didn’t look so hot his first time out.
